What to Expect

Dujiangyan Irrigation System is the world’s oldest and only surviving no-dam irrigation system, located in Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Constructed around 256 BCE by the Qin governor Li Bing and his son, it has been regulating the Min River’s water flow for over two millennia, turning the once flood-prone Sichuan Basin into the “Land of Abundance”. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000, it showcases ancient Chinese engineering wisdom and remains fully functional today, benefiting over 10 million mu of farmland.
